Newark RISE

Newark Rotary Club Bulletin

WELCOME VISITORS

Donna Johnson recognized Suliyman from Istanbul who joined us again on zoom.  Kevin Mooney introduced Chris Burgess, a potential new member and the owner of ‘Whatawash’, car wash.  Julia Kellogg and Emily Pang, our NHS scholarship winners also joined us via zoom.

WELLNESS

Carol Nary is still in Pennsylvania.  She will be wearing her sling as a result of her fall for 4-6 more weeks.  We were happy to virtually see her smiling face and hear her infectious laugh on zoom.

HEALTHY MOMENT

Grace Norcott is aware of the typical New Year’s resolutions we all make such as losing weight, eating healthier and to quit smoking.  Her suggestion is “don’t try to do too much at once”.  Make your goals attainable.  Be specific - for example if you need to walk more, start with the small goal of walking to your mail box once a day.
GOOD LUCK - Be patient with yourself!

BAD DAD JOKES

Compliments of Jean Bendix

A wife and husband are in the kitchen and a plate of cookies is on the counter.
Wife - “Seriously? another cookie?”
Husband -” One Covid symptom is loss of the ability to taste food, so I like to screen myself every ten minutes or so.”

Compliments of MaryJo Fenyn

Why was the snowman rummaging through the bag of carrots?
He was picking his nose!
Compliments of John Zornow
Will glass coffins become popular?
Remains to be seen.
Congratulations America!
51 years ago you stepped on the moon
Today you can’t even go to Canada.

Flyers on each table listed the events scheduled for January to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.
President Donna was pleased to read two thank-you notes.  The Newark Food Closet was happy to receive the grocery bags filled by Rotarians to feed families in need at Christmas time.
The Dictionary project benefited all 3rd grade students in the Newark School district.
